The blog is back in Business! Paris/France

For me Paris/France was a blurr!
after so many month of not really working (lol) I jumped head first in a bubbling cauldron....
Very emotional week with a lot of friends getting hurt (fortunately not too bad) but emotional and tiring it was.....

So , here is Carol's take on Paris!

The kids and I saw Paris through the eyes of true tourists. Eric, on the other hand, threw himself into the annual Bercy SX event. For the first time in 4 months, we went our separate ways and Eric’s mom joined us in our quest to discover Paris!! We had so much fun soaking in culture by day and racing by night! It was so fun to see all of our friends from France once again!! The kids were in heaven seeing all of their SX and FMX heroes!! We took the kids to the Louvre to see many statues and of course, the Mona Lisa. There were so many works of art it was overwhelming! Leonardo Da Vinci did another painting of a woman (among many) that was so mesmerizing that we all just stood to stare for a while. Another of their favorites was the coronation of Napoleon which was held in the Notre Dame, where we were the previous day and saw his coronation throne. We strolled Mont Martre with Eric’s mama and watched as painters did portraits of people passing by then tucked ourselves into a cafĂ© for some homemade soup and hot spiced wine, a magic moment shared in a tiny bistro with two artists sitting next to us. Luca rode many old fashioned absolutely gorgeous merry-go-rounds. We all climbed up the Eiffel Tower and had an amazing view of Paris. No day was complete without a Nutella Crepe (especially in Alec and Luca’s eyes)
I spent my birthday going with Eric’s mom and Luca to the Musee D’Orsay (thank you Maman for making my birthday the best!!) We went directly to see the famous Impressionist paintings. It was so amazing to stand in front of these masterpieces and see every brush stroke and the separation of color, an absoloute treat!! We finally rejoined Eric and finished our week with a walk down the Champs d’Elysee and dinner at a famous old Parisian restaurant topped off with a crepe, of course!!
We all had a great surprise meeting the Masterpool family (one of the young racers, 14 yrs old, who came to Bercy and dominated) and Jacob Hayes and his dad, Jeff (an awesome 125 SX rider, only 15 years old). Our boys had the time of their lives with these guys and were in tears to see them go home!
Now, time to move on for everyone! On to South Africa!
