Bali Part 1
Our first couple days in Bali have been unreal....finally a feel of vacation after the exhausting "battle of Australia" lol
First day was R and R around the pool getting massages , swimming and finally renting bicyle for nice long run on the beach...after a great dinner we all went to bed ready for our first big adventure! white water rafting !
White water rafing has always been the best active family fun and as predicted it did not disapoint! (plus we liked the idea of being taken in the middle of the jungle literally)
We got pick up by a driver in a mini van and then we discoverd the most INSANE drivers in the world (so far)and our driver was in top of food chain! crossing white line passing on the shoulder doing everything that would get you in Jail within minutes in the US!
Surprisingly all that crazyness goes with no drama at all and everybody keeps smiling..no road rage here dispite an inherent need for it!
Motorcyles are everywhere and outnumber cars 100 to 1....Family of 4 can be on a single bike....very cool....(.tomorrow I will rent one for 6 dollars a day and enter the jungle!)
Finally after 1.30 hours we arrived at top of mountain where we were suited up in 5 minutes and ready to go....very refreshing, no waiver, no sergent just pure easy simple fun!
The ride was 10 miles long and we never had a dull moment...dodging bamboo bridges, waving to the locals taking bath ! The scenery was breathtaking (one the Rambos were shot in this area) and finally we went for the finale, a 4 meter (12 feet) drop off!
All went went well and Luca declared the day "the most fun of his life" (Sadly at home, a 6 years old would not have been allowed to do that river!
The guide was a riot and his broken english added to the the trip!
Last but not least, we had about 500 steps carved in the mountain to get out of canyon!
The scenery was unreal and we were greeted by a late indonesian lunch!
The ride back was equal to the ride in!
fortunately couple of ducks "herds" slowed us down!
Greetings from the bonzai cafe (internet restaurant) admiring a full moon over the ocean!
